Comments about 7 1/2 Habits of Lifelong Learners
The concept of lifelong learning is one I embrace personally, as well as, professionally. I often get into ruts that I need to break out of, though. Taking Vermont's 23 Things comes along at a perfect time to shake me out of one such rut. I have felt behind in the use of technology that my own children and the young patrons I serve view as essential to the lives. It's time to get up to speed.
The easiest Habit for me is #1: Beginning with the end in mind. It's a habit I have developed when writing lesson plans/units for library media lessons at school. How can you assess your learning if you don't know where you are going?
Habit 7 1/2 will be the hardest for me to maintain, being playful in my learning. I tend to take life seriously and my learning is no different. I need to keep in mind the way I have seen children approach technology. They are fearless. Pressing buttons, keys, and clicking until something good happens is common. The last thing on their minds is making a mistake or breaking something.
My mantra will be: Explore with joy and abandon!
